In GALATIANS 5:16-23 Paul describes the spiritual battle that we experience as soon as we become Christians.

He says it is a battle between THE OLD NATURE (THE FLESH) which wants to go its own rebellious way and THE NEW (SPIRITUAL) NATURE which wants to go God's way.

Paul says in verse 16 that if we have been born again from above by the Holy Spirit, we will be led by the Spirit moment by moment and will not want to satisfy the sinful animal instincts and lusts of our old fleshly nature.
