Isaiah's Prophecy About The Messiah ISAIAH 9:1-7
When Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he left Judea and returned to Galilee, going first to Nazareth, and to Capernaum, beside the Sea of Galilee, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali.
This fulfilled what God said through the prophet Isaiah:
“In the land of Zebulun and of Naphtali, beside the sea, beyond the Jordan River, in Galilee where so many Gentiles live, the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light. And for those who lived in the land where death casts its shadow, a light has shined.”
From then on Jesus began to preach,
“Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.” MATTHEW 4:12-20
Jesus' Proclamation: "I AM The Light Of The World" JOHN 8:12-30
Jesus spoke to the people and said, "I AM The Light for the World! Follow me, and you won't walk in darkness. You will have the light that gives life." Jesus went on to say, "When you have lifted up the Son of Man, you will know who I AM. You will also know that I don't do anything on my own. I say only what my Father taught me. The one who sent me is with me. I always do what pleases him, and he will never leave me."
After Jesus said this, many of the people put their faith in him, but others were outraged JOHN 8:12-30
Jesus' Demonstration: Healing Blind Eyes JOHN 9:1-12
Jesus proves the validity of his claim to be the Light of the World by healing a blind man. It is a hilarious episode in which a blind man sees clearly who Jesus is and what he has done, while sighted people all around him are in the dark as far as understanding.
In verse 5 Jesus again says "I AM The Light of the World", but the only one to see is the man born blind who has just received his sight!
In verses 35-41 Jesus meets up again with the man he has healed, and asks him:
“Do you believe in the Son of Man (The Messiah) ?”
The man answered, “Who is he, sir? I want to believe in him.”
“You have seen him,” Jesus said, “He is speaking to you!”
“Yes, Lord, I believe!” the man said. And he worshipped Jesus.
Then Jesus told him, “I came into this world to render judgement—to give sight to the blind, and to show those who think they see that they are blind.”
Some Pharisees who were standing nearby heard him, and asked:
"Are you saying we are blind?"
“If you were blind, you wouldn’t be guilty," Jesus replied.
“But you remain guilty because you claim you can see."
