Jesus The Spotless Lamb of God
When John the Baptist saw Jesus coming to be baptised in the River Jordan before the start of his ministry, he declared: Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. JOHN 1:29
In 1 PETER 1:18-21 the apostle Peter refers to Jesus as the spotless Lamb of God whose blood was shed so we might be redeemed - ransomed or bought back - from satan's clutches. " You know you were not redeemed with perishable things such as silver or gold from your old empty way of life ..... but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect."
The Lamb Of God Who Takes Away The Sins Of The World ISAIAH 53:6-9
In these verses Isaiah describes how the Messiah as The Suffering Servant will take the punishment for the sins of others, not his own.
• He will suffer in silence for sins not his own v6
• He will be led to the slaughter like a Passover lamb sacrificed for sin v7
