God Reveals Himself To Moses In A Burning Bush

In EXODUS Chapter 3  Moses has a divine encounter with the Living God in the Wilderness of Sinai. When God instructs him to go to Pharaoh and tell him to free the children of Israel from their slavery in Egypt, Moses asks what he should say to convince him he is not just giving his imagination a treat.

Moses protests:
“If I go to the people of Israel and tell them, ‘The God of your ancestors has sent me to you,’ they will ask me, ‘What is his name?’ What should I tell them? ”

God replies:  YHWH  -  “I AM WHO I AM.  Say this to the people of Israel: I AM has sent me to you."

People's Responses To Jesus' Claim To Be YHWH

So when the Jews heard Jesus saying he was I AM, they were astonished. Some were outraged; some were mystified; and others believed and put their faith in him as God incarnate. (JOHN 8:23-31)
