A Jewish Religious Leader Visits Jesus JOHN 3: 3-8
NICODEMUS was a member of the Council of Jewish religious leaders in Jerusalem called The Sanhedrin. He was anxious to find out whether this itinerant rabbi, who attracted such large crowds of followers, might be God's promised Messiah. But he did not want his fellow Council members to know and so visited Jesus secretly at night.
Nicodemus began the discussion by saying:
"Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God because no one could do the miraculous signs you have been doing unless God was with him."
Nicodemus recognised Jesus' spiritual authority.

"I tell you the truth. No one can see the kingdom of heaven unless s/he is born ANOTHEN (pronounced AN-OH-THEN)." JOHN 3:3
